Mullumbimby is a magical place. It’s main attraction to many people is it’s acceptance of diversity. A widely variety of people make up our Mullumbimby community from all over the world. It is this that makes the Annual Mullumbimby Show one of the most unique in Australia.
From its beginnings in 1907 it has always been held at the picturesque Mullumbimby Showgrounds at the base of Mount Chincogan. The showground was dedicated in 1929 to reflect its importance to the local community. Over ensuring decades, infrastructure was built on the Showground, and further land parcels were added. Livestock activities including pony clubs and horse training have used the Showground for many decades. The Agricultural show continues as a showcase activity at the Showground, however more diverse users have come to call the Showground home including the Spaghetti Circus , Roundabout Theatre and the Mullumbimby Farmers Markets.
The current diversity of users reflects the historical and demographical changes that have occurred in Mullumbimby over the decades.
From its farming foundations Mullumbimby has evolved into a town of many cultures, interests and opportunities with a rich artistic and environmentally aware community.
This has made the Show ensure that the program for the show is constantly evolving to continue to be the success it is today.
